HooBuy Seller-Page Checklist: Verify Before Saving a Find
A useful product spreadsheet begins one step before the product row: with a decision about whether the seller page is clear enough to save at all. The common failure is collecting a visually attractive link first and trying to repair its missing identity, option and price evidence later. By then, a redirected URL or edited page may make the original find impossible to reconstruct.
This HooBuy seller-page checklist is a pre-save gate. It works across Taobao, 1688 and Weidian without pretending that their page fields mean the same thing. The result is one of three statuses: save, save with a blocking question, or reject. That is more useful than a vague seller score.
Gate 1: prove which page you are saving
Open the final destination rather than recording only a shared, shortened or redirected address. Save the clean source URL, source marketplace, visible item identifier and seller or shop identifier where available. Keep the original shared link in a separate provenance field if it helps explain where the find came from.
Compare the page title, main image context and seller identity with the record shown in the current purchasing flow. A parser can omit details or show stale information. If the destination changes to a search page, shop homepage, login wall or different item, stop. A similar product is a new candidate, not a repaired version of the old one.
Gate 2: connect the intended option to the displayed amount
Record the exact source-language labels for every choice needed to reconstruct the intended SKU. Color, size, version, package and batch can be separate selectors. Add a plain-language note in another column, but never replace the original labels with the note.
Then select the intended combination and observe whether the displayed amount changes. Save the amount, currency, selected state and date together. A headline price, range minimum or promotional banner does not prove the price of your chosen option. If an option cannot be selected, mark the price unconfirmed rather than copying the lowest visible number.
| Field | Minimum evidence | Stop condition |
|---|---|---|
| Item identity | Final URL plus visible item ID or equivalent | Redirect resolves to another item or generic page |
| Seller identity | Shop name or identifier tied to the item | Seller cannot be attributed |
| Intended option | Complete original labels in selection order | Required version or size is absent |
| Price basis | Amount observed after selecting the intended state | Only a range minimum or unrelated option is visible |
| Observation date | Date the live page was checked | Row relies on an undated copied value |
Gate 3: separate product claims from observable facts
A seller may describe material, construction, measurements, included parts or performance. Preserve important claims as attributed page text. Do not rewrite them as verified facts. Images may support visible design details, but they cannot prove hidden construction, fiber composition, durability or authenticity.
Measurement evidence is stronger when the chart is clearly tied to the exact listing and option. A generic shop chart or image copied between products deserves an uncertainty flag. For apparel, record which points are measured and the unit. For shoes or bags, record whether dimensions describe the product, insole, packaging or an unspecified reference.
Gate 4: capture transaction-specific seller evidence
Seller-page signals are most useful when they change this transaction. Record visible domestic freight, preorder wording, customization terms, disclosed dispatch notes, return restrictions and option-specific inclusions. Keep each field dated and quote only the short label needed to identify its meaning.
Badges, sales counts, follower totals and shop age can be context, but only when the interface explains them. Do not convert an unexplained number into a defect rate or reliability percentage. A popular shop can still have an ambiguous listing; a smaller shop can have a well-documented item. The row should rank evidence completeness, not social proof.
Use a two-column claim log
In the first column, record what the page states. In the second, record what would confirm it: a selectable option, seller answer, warehouse label, measurement image or included-part photo. This prevents a claim from silently becoming a spreadsheet fact while keeping the question actionable.
Gate 5: write one blocking question
A blocking question is a fact whose answer could change the order. It names the exact item and option, asks one thing, and describes acceptable evidence. “Is the blue large option the same version shown in image six?” is actionable. “Is the quality good?” is not.
Save the question before marking the row ready. If an answer arrives, record the answer, date and channel beside the original page evidence. If it conflicts with the listing, keep both records and ask which one will control fulfillment. No reply means unresolved, not approved.
Apply a save, hold or reject decision
| Decision | Use when | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Save | Identity, intended option and price basis are reproducible; no material ambiguity remains | Add the row with its verification date |
| Hold | Identity is clear but one inclusion, measurement, dispatch term or option distinction is unresolved | Save as research only and attach the blocking question |
| Reject | The destination, seller, intended option or amount cannot be connected reliably | Retain a brief rejection reason; search for a new candidate |
Do not let a low price override a reject result. An unidentifiable item has no defensible comparison basis. Do not let a polished storefront override a hold result either. The question belongs to this exact transaction.
Worked example: two similar hoodie pages
Candidate A has a final item URL, shop identifier, selectable charcoal / size L / standard version, a price that updates for that state, a listing-specific measurement chart and a dated dispatch note. Candidate B has stronger photos and a lower headline amount, but its version label is missing and the chart appears generic.
Candidate A can be saved if its measurements meet the requirement. Candidate B stays on hold until the seller confirms which version the amount covers and whether the chart belongs to it. The conclusion is not that A has better quality. It is that A has a more reproducible pre-order record.
Transfer the record without flattening it
When a find is ready, move the exact option labels and blocking requirements into the order note. Preserve the discovery row as a dated snapshot. The product-link verification guide covers link identity across marketplaces, while the spreadsheet guide provides the broader status workflow.
After warehouse arrival, compare the received item with the order record. QC can confirm observable identity, selected color, visible label, measurements shown in requested evidence and included parts. It should not overwrite what the seller page claimed or be treated as proof of hidden material and long-term performance.
Recheck whenever the page state matters
Reopen the source page before ordering, after a long hold, and whenever price or option data changes. Add a new observation rather than replacing the earlier one. If the URL dies, retain the item and seller identifiers, last verified state and rejection or recovery note. A replacement belongs in a new row.
- Final destination and item identity verified.
- Seller identity attributed to this item.
- Original option labels preserved in full.
- Selected-state price and date recorded.
- Claims kept separate from observable evidence.
- Domestic freight and special terms recorded only when displayed.
- Unexplained badges or counts left uninterpreted.
- One blocking question written where needed.
- Save, hold or reject status assigned with a reason.
The best saved find has fewer hidden assumptions
A seller-page checklist cannot guarantee stock, dispatch, quality or returns. It can prevent an attractive but ambiguous page from becoming a false spreadsheet fact. Verify identity, reconstruct the exact option, tie the amount to that state, preserve dated claims and make unresolved questions visible.
That discipline makes later comparisons fair. It also gives the purchasing and warehouse stages a precise target. Save the find only when someone else can understand what you intended, what the page actually showed and what still needs proof.
